- Jewel Bandy | Tombstone Tack Shop
Jewel Bandy Jewel Bandy - President and Co-Owner "our Trail Boss" W hen Jewel was 8 years old, living in a rural community in Honduras, Central America, she had the opportunity to ride bareback on a local business owner's "flea bitten nag; possibly mule". The experience led her to fly on her glorious spirit animal "the horse". She later learned that her sister was there with her also on a horse of her own and she was not indeed alone with a magnificent horse running across the plains, but in a corral walking in a circle under the watchful eye of the adults. The reality of the scene does not matter so much. What happened was a love was born, and Jewel realized that "the horse" was her animal. Her love of horses and western riding gained momentum from spending many happy experiences on her family's cattle ranches in western Canada. It took a few years for her to make her way to the farm and find a cowboy who loved the life of being with horses too, but here she is, Crushing It! As a horse owner, Jewel has learned the importance of horse care and quality of feed and tack. Once she understood the meaningful relationship between human and horse, the importance of the right tack is a natural next chapter. As the dream of the Tombstone Tack Shop started to take shape, Jewel leaned in hard with all her being. She has many years of experience with Customer Service, Creating an Ideal Client Experience and Running Small Businesses. Event Planning and Organizing Teams with Leadership by Learning are in her nature. Jewel has brought life to the retail side of the Tombstone Tack Shop, brought her skill to bear on the Horsemanship Clinics that we host, and finds ways to fill needs in our Equestrian Community by leading to learning with horses and brining western horse riding lessons to our venue. She is active in the breeding program (as assistant only) and loves all the ponies with random acts of kindness. Jewel Bandy is most known for her ability to make sure folks are happy with her warm and kind approach tempered with a firm "Ride the Brand" attitude. Jewel Bandy Co-Owner/CEO Jewel's Objective Besides co-creating "The Ultimate Wild Destination Shopping Experience for Horse Tack" is to hire, train and empower women to gain confidence, experience and management skills to set them up for the next adventure. Jewel's Goal To create a place where the community gathers to enjoy the love of life with horses and where the coffee is always on.
- Lee Bandy | Tombstone Tack Shop
Lee Bandy Lee Bandy - Board Member and Co-Owner "Our RamRod" L ee was introduced to horses the "old fashioned way", on the family horse breeding farm in the Arnprior area. He worked alongside his father Ellard Bandy to learn the ropes of, not only the breeding operations, but also the hay business. His love of horses led him to apprentice and later work as a Ferrier with Lewis Forrest. This dynamic duo often shoed horses for Ian Miller. Lee carried on in this line of work, attended Kings College for his Ferrier and Blacksmith papers and built a company of his own working as a full time Ferrier and Blacksmith in the Ottawa Valley. Lee Bandy came to be known as the man to call when you had a rough horse. This cowboy is still very dedicated to the hoof health of our equestrian friends, but hung up the traveling rasp in favor of building a horse quality hay delivery business and breeding program here at our "slice of country" on the Cedarhaven Farms. Lee has a lifetime of experience handling horses in particular, Stud Horses, Mare Care, Semen Collection, Natural Cover, Artificial Insemination, Mare and Foal care, Green Breaking, Training, Horsemanship, Shoeing and Trimming. In the course of his work with horses, Lee often wished for a Tack Shop that would have what he wanted, when he needed it, or where he could get it. The quality Leather, Saddles, Bits and Bridles, Boots, Jeans and Hats… everything a horseman needs. The idea of the Tombstone Tack Shop was born once he said these words out loud. Lee Bandy Co-Owner Lee's Objective Besides co-creating "The Ultimate Wild Destination Shopping Experience for Horse Tack", is to ensure we contribute to the betterment of the First Nations Community by selling Native Art and Jewelry in the Tack Shop; collecting change from customers to donate and also by donating the proceeds of selling "Every Child Matters" shirts in the shop. Lee's Goal To bring to life the dream of the Levers & Irons gun counter (for all the cowboy action needs) at the Tombstone Tack Shop. Lee has added to his resume the role of Gunsmith.

Pearlynne Gourlie 05/22/21 Share your Community News with us! Jewel Bandy 05/20/21 Kim Killen-DiGiacinto A huge thank you to Jewel and the crew at Tombstone for hosting, my fellow riders for making it a fun day and to Shannon for imparting her wisdom and teaching us more about the sport!! Laura Hillary You gals are awesome! Thanks for making us feel so welcome yesterday. It was a great day!! Andrea Goffart Thank you Tombstone gang! Your hospitality is out of this world! Equi-Health Canada - Eastern Ontario recommends Tombstone Tack Shop . Tombstone Tack Shop hosted an equine first aid course I taught this weekend. I was very excited to be part of their clinic series as the line up is exactly what regional horse owners would enjoy and benefit from. In addition to being able to browse and buy from this very unique and well priced tack shop, they were exceptional clinic hosts. The barn was very well set up, they are very organized, hospitable, provided a great lunch and refreshments, were very adaptable, and their horses were perfectly mannered and beautiful ‘casualties’. The property is well set up for various types of clinics and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Jewel, her team, and the students were such a joy to spend time with. I highly recommend for any clinicians or people wanting to attend various horsemanship clinics!

- Gary McLaren | Tombstone Tack Shop
Gary McLaren Gary McLaren Western Riding Coach Gary McLaren – Western Riding Coach "our Ol' Timer" G ary 's knowledge and know how as it applies to western horseback riding is vast - he has many years experience horse training and rider coaching. The Tombstone Tack Shop riding program is fortunate to have him join our team. I started and trained the mare in this photo in 2010. I started riding September 1952 in Arnprior - getting close to 72 years. My first horse was terrible almost enough to make you quit. I never got hurt on him but I seen a lot of country I didn't want to see. Second horse first training job 1954. An untouched standard bred stallion he was 2 and had never seen a halter. I traded for him the day I got him I rode him no buck no run away made him into a race horse sold him for big money. Although I was young I had good success with every horse I rode. I stayed at it through the 50's . In 62 I joined the RCAF. FIRST posting was in Ottawa, so I was home often to help my dad who was now in the horse business, then I transferred to Goose Bay Labrador. I was home a lot and helped Dad train race horses. In ,1967 I got my dream transfer to Comox BC. Within A very short time I knew all the horse guys. I started calf roping then and started accumulating horses my idea has always been "you got to ride a lot to be good" & I wanted to be a good trainer. I had my own facility stable round pen & arena that my friends wife and family helped to build. I bought sale horses retrained and fed them to make good horses. I rode every night until I couldn't see . Made some money made some nice horses. In 1975 we divorced I lost every thing except my children stayed riding for others. 1978 returned home, bought a horse one night in a bar and I never slowed down until last year. Now I am retired at 81 with 70 + years of experience and excited to be given the chance to help others . My long time friend Lee Bandy was looking for a teacher - I applied. l am not a horse whisper but what I do works or we try again. My moto RIDE JUST RIDE. Gary's Objective Besides to help create "The Ultimate Wild Destination Shopping Experience for Horse Tack" is to teach others how to ride and be great horse owners. Gary's Goal to be valued and of value in his horsemanship efforts.
